2.6.6 Indefinite pronouns
quickinfo

‘Indefinite pronouns’ is a collective term covering pronouns which refer to unspecified or unknown referents. For example universal pronouns (älk ‘everybody’, aal ‘everything’), negative pronouns (nemens ‘nobody’, niks ‘nothing’) or quantifying pronouns (e.g. wäkke ‘some people’, wäl ‘somebody’, wät ‘something’).

Traditionally, the term ‘pronouns’ cover genuine pronouns (e.g. älk ‘everybody’) as well as certain determiners (e.g. älke Fjuund ‘every friend’). In this section, such determiners will be discussed, too.
