Speaker-oriented interjections in UCV2s
quickinfo

Speaker-oriented interjections are possible in V2-clauses. Hence they are found in main clauses displaying V2 as well as in UCV2s.

Speaker-oriented interjections are banned from embedded clauses not displaying Verb-Second, such as the following:

1
*Jouke hie sein dat godskes Ot en Sien trouwe moasten
Jouke had said that gosh Ot and Sien marry moast
Jouke had said that, gosh, Ot and Sien had to marry

They are found in Verb-Second clauses, regardless of whether these are found to occur as main clauses or as UCV2s:

2
a. Godskes, Ot en Sien moatte trouwe!
gosh Ot and Sien must marry
Gosh, Ot and Sien have to marry!
b. Omdat ` godskes, Ot en Sien moatte trouwe!
because gosh Ot and Sien must marry
Because gosh, Ot and Sien have to marry!
c. Jouke hie sein dat godskes, Ot en Sien moatte trouwe!
Jouke had said that gosh Ot and Sien must marry
Jouke had said that, gosh, Ot and Sien have to marry!

So UCV2s behave like main clauses with respect to this diagnostic.
