3.1.Restrictive and non-restrictive modifiers
quickinfo

This section is concerned with the difference between restrictive and non-restrictive modifiers. Although this distinction is not always clear-cut, Sections 3.1.1 and 3.1.2 will discuss a number of differences in form and function, which in most cases make it possible to tell the two types of modifier apart; cf. also De Vries (2002: 181ff). Section 3.1.3 concludes this section with a brief discussion of the distinction between modifiers and appositive phrases.
