Adjectives may be premodified by adverbs, as in examples like the following. The adjective is final in its projection and bears attributive agreement, whereas the adverb usually does not have any inflection:

1
a. In [bespotlik grut] skip
a ridiculously big ship
A ridiculously big ship
b. [Bespotlik grutte] skippen
ridiculously big ships
Ridiculously big ships

There are two exceptions to the claim that adverbs do not have any inflection. There is a lexical exception in that the intensifier hiel very may optionally be appended with schwa. This is a sign of attributive inflection as the following examples make clear:

2
a. In hiel grouwe fodze
a very big lump.of.a.woman.CG
A very big woman
b. In hiele grouwe fodze
a very big lump.of.a.woman.CG
A very big woman
c. In hiel grut hûs
a very big house.NG
A very big house
d. *In hiele grut hûs
a very big house.NG
A very big house

The schwa is optionally present on the adverb when the adjective bears attributive inflection. When the adjective may not bear attributive inflection, in the neuter singular, then the adverb hiel very may not be appended with schwa.
