This chapter has discussed the syntactic properties of adverbially used adpositional phrases. It has been shown that all semantic types allow topicalization and PP-over-V, and resist R-extraction. Although the term scrambling is not relevant (or defined) for adverbial phrases, we did discuss some issues in relation to their relative order.
