Wêzebe as the missing verb following modals

The missing verb following modals may be a copular verb such as wêzebe.

The verb wêzebe may remain absent when accompanied by an Adposition Phrase (PP). Note that the example below involves the semantic concept of motion, even though it does not involve the verb geango:

Example 1

a. Jim kinne noch moai foar tolven thús
you can still nice for twelve home
You can jolly well be home before twelve
b. Jim kinne noch moai foar tolven thús wêze
you can still nice for twelve home be
You can jolly well be home before twelve

The verb wêzebe must be present when accompanied by an Adjective Phrase (AP), suggesting that it may only remain absent in case it is semantically connected to a motional interpretation:

b. Soene se siik wêze?
should they ill be
