UCV2s are main clauses syntactically

Unintegrated embedded clauses featuring a complementiser and V2 (UCV2s) display all the syntactic properties of main clauses. So, UCV2s pattern with main clauses with respect to phenomena like the following: cliticisation, left-dislocation and speaker-oriented interjections. The complementiser datthat, therefore may be used as a coordinating conjunction. This complementiser is a marker of indirect speech, regardless of the word order in the clause which it introduces.
