Certain adverbs can be used to modify Noun Phrases (NPs).

Adverbs can also modify nouns:

Example 1

a. Hy sei krekt it tsjinoerstelde
he said exactly the opposite
He said exactly the opposite
b. Sipke is echt in held
Sipke is truly a hero
Sipke is truly a hero

In (1b), the adverb may also show up as an attributive adjective, optionally marked with an emphatic attributive ending, which is shown below:

Example 2

a. Jan is in echt-e held
Jan is a real.CG hero
Jan is a real hero
b. Jan is in echt-en held
Jan is a real.EMPH hero
Jan is a real hero

The adverb krektexactly can occur in several positions, when modifying an Adposition Phrase (PP), though not after Adjective Phrase (AP):

exactly on the right spot
Exactly in the right spot
b. Op krekt it goede plak
on exactly the right spot
Exactly in the right spot
c. ?Op it krekt goede plak
