Clause and phrase negation netnot can be used to negate adjectives. In addition, idiomatic expressions built around negation may be used in order to express deeply felt emotion. The example below shows the negation in the form of a Adposition Phrase (PP) that is a quasi measure phrase:

Example 2

a. Sy is [foar gjin meter] siik
she is for no meter ill
She is not ill at all
b. *Sy is [foar in meter siik]
she is for a meter ill
She is ill

The measure phrase noun metermeter loses its literal meaning (say, 100 centimeters) in a negative context. It doesn't lose it literal meaning in a non-negative example, and this leads to semantic absurdity, as shown in (b) above.
